Keeping my coat on

Now that it’s gotten chillier, I often wear a coat when I go out. And then when I arrive somewhere, I often neglect to take my coat off. There are a few reasons for this:

• The coat has pockets. (I’m always carrying things in my pockets.)
• The temperature difference doesn’t really bug me.
• I won’t lose track of the coat if I’m wearing it.

Unfortunately, almost nobody understands this, and they often ask me to take my coat off whenever I’m indoors. They often imply that I’m doing something weird or wrong, or act like my coat offends them somehow. I wish they could understand that the coat is not harming anyone, and that if it gets too warm for me and I need to take the coat off, I’m quite capable of figuring that out for myself.
